Ever wandered how far you could run in a set time, either while racing or being chased by a grizzly that hasn’t eaten in weeks? WE HAVE TOO!!! So, in 2010, we held the first ever "Labor Pain" 12 hour endurance race and by popular demand, it's back again in 2011, to the joy of most of the 120 individuals and 10 teams that did it last year. Now, despite the "12 hr" time limit being the primary barometer in determining who wins awards, many folks still ask us "How long is the race?" As we said, under oath, during our Daddy's child abuse trial, "BEATS US!!" Our wheel measured trail loop is 5 miles to the foot but some bailed after 1 loop (injury) and several hit the 70+ mile mark; one TEAM went 85 miles!! The loop starts/finishes at the Reading Liederkranz and you'll repeatedly run past their outside bar, our aide station (there's one @ 2.6 miles too), your tent if you pitch one (the grounds looked like Woodstock last year) and your means to get home; as many times as you choose to. Rest when you want, eat when you want, run when you want and go as far as your sore & eventually smelly piggies will carry you. Better yet, shoot for one of our "milestone" distances; 26.2M, 50K, 40M (new for 2011), 50M and 100K.
